Recent Releases
- Users can now select from a list of available virtual backgrounds when capturing video using Browser Capture.
- All recordings done with Browser Capture now come with automatic audio normalization.
- Multi-select content within the Easy Embed modal in Canvas and embed it as a Playlist. This is the workflow when adding Echo360 content via the Rich Content Editor (RCE) in Canvas.
- The Echo360 raspberry pink brand rollout will allow the current Echo360 brand to be implemented across more areas of the EchoVideo platform. The new brand improves the accessibility of the UI through more appropriate color selection and improved contrast between colors.
- The login page at echo360.org has been updated to be consistent with the new branding.
- The player has been updated at long last to be consistent across all implementations of the player. It will be the player you see when accessing a Classroom, the Details Page, an Embed, the Editors, etc. with the same interface and controls in all areas of EchoVideo. Additionally, some new/improved capabilities for the updated player include:
- New layout tools for multi-channel content
- Responsive design down to mobile device sizes
- Additional filtering tools in the Notes and Discussions
- The Sharing tab of the Details Page has been renamed "Publishing" to encompass and better define content that has been shared with others and content that has been posted into a Class or Collection. All management of publishing information will now be done from this tab of the Details Page.
- A new interface and additional options for the Easy Embed modal in Canvas are here. The initial load page now displays all the options you have always had, but in a friendlier way with descriptions for users unfamiliar with the process.
- Improvements to Consolidated Analytics.
- In-App notifications for Instructors are here! In addition to existing email notifications, Instructors now have the ability to opt-in to in-app notifications for events within EchoVideo. We've also added two new notifications for Content Management and Engagement.
- The ability for users to upload spherical (360˚) video is out of beta! This feature is now Generally Available.
- A Recycle Bin now allows users to access and recover their soft deleted content.
- A refreshed classroom experience. We have updated the colors, changed some text fonts, and in some cases, replaced the icons. In most cases, the new icons are just updated versions of the previous ones.
-
- While there were a bunch of new features in this release, they were almost exclusively changes for Echo360 administrators.
January 5, 2023 Update
- We have enabled the ability for other instructors and TAs to copy course content. Previously, only the owner of a video could make a copy, even if that video was in a shared course. This feature can be disabled from the Feature Settings page in Echo360.
- Resolved an issue where clicking on a poll from within the Library failed to open the Media Details Page for the poll.
- We have added support to publish directly to a Section from Browser Capture.
-
We’ve resolved an issue that could sometimes prevent viewing data from the LMS course from populating in the Consolidated Analytics page.
-
We’ve updated the list of collections in the new Collection modal to always sort alphabetically.
- The player loading icon has been updated with aria support and will now be properly read by screen readers.
- The ability to sort by Created Date is back by popular demand in the Easy Embed tool for Instructors and Students! This is the tool that appears when adding Echo360 content in Canvas via the Rich Content Editor.
- Browser Capture is out of Beta, which means this feature will now enter Echo360's continuous improvement cycle.
- Instructors and students now have the option to choose to create media right from the Canvas embed dialogue either via the Universal Capture desktop app or now via Browser Capture within their preferred browser.
