Self-Service: Enroll an Additional Device to Your DUO Account

This article provides steps for users who are already enrolled in DUO to add a new device, such as a secondary phone, a tablet, or a physical security key (FIDO2 key), to their multi-factor authentication profile. It is important to note that the devices must be in your possession. 

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in DUO (4.85.0 version or higher).

  • Must have access to one of your currently enrolled devices to verify your identity.

Steps for Adding a Device

1. Log In and Initiate Device Management

  1. Open the link: https://webapps.case.edu/duo/webauth.py - You will be prompted to log in to your single sign-on service.
    *If you are experience any issues, you may need to open an incognito window (Press Control+Shift+N) or try a different browser.

  2. Enter your CWRU Network ID and Passphrase and click Login.

  3. The DUO prompt screen will appear, attempting to send a Push notification to your primary device. Do not accept the request!

  1. Click "Other options" below the push prompt.

  2. On the next screen, scroll to the bottom and click the "Manage devices" option.

    • (Note: This option is typically listed below the Duo Push, Passcode, and Phone Call options.)

2. Verify Your Identity

Before you can manage your enrolled devices, you must verify your identity using one of your existing, already-enrolled devices.

  1. On the "Verify your identity before managing devices" screen, choose an authentication method (e.g., Duo Push, Duo Mobile Verified Push, Phone call, physical security key) to complete the verification.

  2. Approve the verification request on your existing device.

3. Add the New Device

Once verified, you will be taken to your Device Management screen, where you can see all your currently enrolled devices.

  1. On this screen, locate and click the panel that says "Add a device."

  1. The "Add a device" screen will appear, giving you several options to choose from:

  • Duo Mobile (Recommended): For adding a smartphone or tablet to use the Duo Verified Push functionality.

 

  • Security key: For registering a physical FIDO U2F/WebAuthn security key.

 

3. Select the types of device you wish to add and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup process.

You have successfully added a new device to your DUO account! You can now use this device to authenticate and securely log in to CWRU services.
