Working with Devices in Apple School Manager

REMEMBER: Never hit the Release from Organization button. If you do that the Device is no longer managed by ASM and will cause issues with the auto enrollment process.

Procedure for Finding Serial Number(s)

1. Go to https://school.apple.com/ and login with your CWRU provided Apple ID. It will look something like this: abc123@caseedu.appleide.com.  From there you will log in to a page that looks similar to the following page.  If you do not have an ASM account to perform this work, please raise a ticket to the Managed Endpoint Resolver Group to  have permission granted.  Or if you wish to have the computers moved to a specific MDM server please include a list of Serial numbers and the Managed Endpoint team can do that for you.

Use the upper lefthand corner icon which loooks like the following:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail) Then from the pop-up menu going to Devices.

2. You can search by the PO number.  If you click the filter button at the top of  Your Devices go to Order Number then at the top you can search for the order number.  Once you search at the top, check off the box next to the order number, and click the Search button at the bottom.   The list of devices in that order will pop up  and you  click All Devces at the top, then edit (see procedures below) the MDM server.   You may also move them individually  if each Device goes to a different MDM server.  Once you click Search All the devices will show up as seen in the picture below.

3. The option is   by moving all devices on  one MDM server over to another MDM Server.  It’s the same process as the PO number search.  Click Filter at the top, above All Devices, then at the next menu Click Device Management.  Form here you can check off  the server, then click Search, and the devices in that server will pop up.  You can assign them all together or individually.

Assigning the devices is just as easy as finding them.  Oncefound the next step is to assign them between the specific MDM servers.  If you find there is a MDM enrollment server that has not been created in Intune please submit a ticket to Managed Endpoint and we will create one for you.

1. Once you have found your device(s) with the steps above you will need to figure out to which MDM server your devices will be assigned.  They are labeled by school name, for example Intune – Nurs, for the school of Nursing.
