More About Globus
Globus lets you share data on your storage systems with collaborators at other institutions. You specify what data and with which colleagues using the web interface. Globus manages the sharing and transfer of data, so you can focus on your research.
At CWRU, you can use Globus to transfer public and internal data between HPC storage, personal connect collections, and lab managed systems. It is commonly used to move large data between:
- Scientific instruments and lab storage
- Lab storage and CWRU Research Computing and Cyberinfrastructure services
- Laptops and shared computing infrastructure
- Outside collaborators from other institutions

Reliability and Integrity: Data is transferred automatically and check summed to ensure correctness. Transfers are recovered in the event of error.
User Management: Globus utilizes institutional accounts through a federated identity system. You do not need to create affiliate accounts or other specific processes.
