Please Read.  This is a highly complex system migration and we know there will be some hiccups.  The team is ready to respond quickly to issues and needs to ensure your work disruption is minimal.  Please email help@case.edu with Details and screenshots if possible.

 

KEY:  The transition of files from H: drive to OneDrive can take up to 15 minutes when first logging in.  To ensure you have your urgent files available, move those files into Onedrive today.  (Call helpdesk if you are unsure how)

 

THIN CLIENTS USERS:

First Login will take a few minutes to fully load. Give the system a few minutes to deliver all the icons etc. (see note below re: files).  If you start clicking too soon you will slow down the process.  

Duplication of Desktop Icons:  There may be duplication of icons.  Just select and Delete. 

Loss of Taskbar "pinned" icons:   There will be loss of icons "pinned" to taskbar.  You will need to manually re-pin as desired.  

Files moving to One Drive: The blue cloud Icon in your System Tray will let you know when the transition is in process. When the transition is complete you will see "Up to Date" when hovering over the icon. 

 

FILES: 

Please note - the transition of files to OneDrive from the H drive has been working successfully.  There are some cases wehre H drive files may be under a second "Documents" folder, or one called "My Documents".   Don't panic as nothing is lost.   If you have issues finding your H drive documents and they are not in a second "Documents" folder or a "My Documents" folder, please email help@case.edu.

LAPTOP/DESKTOP USERS:

    NOTE:  IF you Launch the VDI Desktop rather than just Individual Apps from your Laptop/Desktop, These notes apply to you as well:

  • Loss of Taskbar "pinned" icons:   There will be loss of icons "pinned" to taskbar.  You will need to manually re-pin as desired.

FACULTY:

  • Remember to Update your Syllabus with instructions that may reference the H drive

  • Licensing for Research vs "Education".   If you find access to some software is no longer available, please reach out immediately to CSESoftware@case.edu.  If it is being used for Research, designate that it is for a class (has a class ID associated with it) or if it is for independent research.  

 

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

  • Sign out of your VDI (Do not just disconnect) and wait 30 seconds to try to log back in

  • Knowledge Base Articles

  • I don't see a Blue Cloud in my System Tray:   This is an issue with connecting to One Drive and will require technical back-end manipulation.  Email helpdesk immediately
