*As of November 24, 2024, the CWRU Academic Deans Committee has created guidance for the inactivation or suspension of academic programs, transcriptional certificates, courses, and related considerations.

Purpose:

CWRU has a duty to provide accurate and transparent information about it's available academic programs, certificates, and course offerings. Accurate information is imperative for prospective and current student to make informed decisions about their education and career paths. CWRU has a responsibility to provide truthful data about academic programs, certificates, and course offerings that are available to students.

At the same time CWRU should provide reasonable flexibility to temporarily suspend a program/certificate to evaluate their future or make substantial changes. There should be an equally nimble process to resume a program/certificate.

The following recommendations from the CWRU Academic Deans Committee have been used in the implementations and continued maintenance of both Slate for Graduate Admissions and Slate for Student Support

Academic Dean Recommendations:
1. Institute a common vocabulary related to program management
2. Provide detailed guidance to inactivate/reactive or suspend/resume programs/certificates.
3. Post the course inactivation and reactivation process on a public facing website.
