Data and Device Destruction

When removing a computer from service, the current procedure is to follow the steps listed on Information Security’s Media Sanitization Procedure page.

If hard drives or tapes need to be physically destroyed, Information Security can perform a certified destruction. Hard drive destruction incurs a per-device charge. 

  • Contact the Help Desk at 216.368.HELP (4357) and request a drive destruct from Information Security.

For bulk disposal, the university has contracted with CINTAS.

  • Contact the Procurement Customer Care team via phone 216.368.2580 or e-mail at customerservice@case.edu. Regular hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
