How To Send a Fax via Email
- Requirements:
- Faxes must be sent from your abc123@case.edu or first.last@case.edu email address. Aliases are not recognized.
- You must have a primary classification of FACULTY or STAFF in the university directory.
- Create a new email message and address it to: <fax number>@fax.case.edu
- The fax number must be either be a 7-digit number in the 216 area code or a 10-digit domestic number
- International faxing is not currently available
- Attach a document or documents to be faxed. The server supports the following formats:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Documents
- GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and Bitmap Images
- HTML Files
- PDF and PostScript Files
- Text Files
- A cover page will be automatically included on the fax. To include text on the cover page, enter that text as the body of the email message.
- Press SEND.
- You will receive a response from the Fax server indicating the success or failure, usually within a few minutes.
How To Send a Fax via Web
- Requirements:
- You must have a primary classification of FACULTY or STAFF in the university directory.
- You must have an active Active Directory user account.
- Visit fax.case.edu
- If prompted by your browser, enter your CWRU network ID and password.
- Your browser may be able to log in automatically if you add fax.case.edu to your Intranet sites.
- Click the blue "Compose Fax" button in the upper-left corner of the screen.
- Complete the items on the Compose tab:
- The phone number must be either be a 7-digit number in the 216 area code or a 10-digit domestic number
- Name and company are optional
- Subject and comments will appear on the cover page
- Attach a document or documents to be faxed
- Optional: Customize your information in the Sender and Company Information tab.
- Optional: Customize sending parameters on the Options tab.
- Press Submit.
- You will receive a response from the Fax server indicating the success or failure, usually within a few minutes.
- You can view your outbound faxes sent on the website or via email for up to 60 days after they are sent.
How to Receive a Personal Fax
- Requirements:
- You must have a primary classification of FACULTY or STAFF in the university directory.
- The sender must be able to specify a "fax mailbox" when sending their fax.
- The method of specifying that mailbox number is specific to the sender's fax environment
- We are unable to support issues specifying a fax mailbox for off-campus senders, they should contact their local support resources
- The fax number is 216/368-2409 and your personal routing number is your seven-digit employee ID number, such as 1009999.
- Senders dialing manually would dial 2163682409, wait for the voice prompt, and then dial your routing number.
- Senders with automated dialing specify both at once, with a pause indicator between them, such as 2163682409p100999.
- The following are common characters used to indicate a pause: , (comma) p (letter p) # (hashtag).
- We are unable to support issues specifying the fax mailbox for off-campus senders, they should contact their local support resources
- Some sending devices may prompt for these two values separately.
- Any fax received will be delivered to your abc123@case.edu email address as a PDF attachment.
- You can also view these received faxes for up to 60 days at fax.case.edu.
