"Webex Calling" is a cloud-based Unified Communication Service marketed by Cisco that is used at CWRU to provide softphones for the University. This article documents instructions for call features in Webex Calling.
Put a phone call on hold
While you're on a phone call with someone, you can put them on hold so that you can make or answer another call or get more information.
- For Webex app users: Click here for more information on how to place a phone call on hold using Webex app.
- For IP Phone users:
- While on a call, press the "Hold" softkey to place the call on hold. To resume the call, press the "Resume" softkey
Start a conference call
When you’re on a phone call, you can pull someone else into the conversation.

- For IP Phone users:
- While on a call, press the "..." softkey until you see the Conf softkey
- Press the Conf softkey
- Current call will be placed on hold. Enter the new phone number to be added to the conference call and press Call softkey.
- After the party answer, press Conf softkey to start the conference call.
Transfer a phone call
When you're on a phone call, you can transfer that call to someone else

Configure call forwarding
If you're going to be away from your desk but don't want to miss an important phone call, you can forward your calls to another phone number. For more information, please visit

Method #1 - using Webex User Hub
2). Navigate to Settings > Calling > Call settings
3) Go to Call forwarding and turn on the toggle
4). Select Forward all calls and enter the phone number you want to forward all calls to
Method #2 - using your IP Phone
1) Select the Forward soft button key
2) Select "Forward all"
3) Toggle Forward all setting to turn call forwarding on
4) Verify the phone number that you want to forward your calls to in the next field

Webex Calling | Turn on Busy or Do not disturb (DND) mode
There are two ways to let your colleagues know you're busy. If you need some time to work without getting message or call notifications, set your availability to Do Not Disturb (DND). If you need to let your colleagues know you're focussed on your work, but still see their messages and call notifications, set your availability to Busy.
Note: Any change to Busy or DND mode applies to all of your Webex Calling devices (Webex App and IP Phones).
You can turn on Busy or DND mode by:
- Using Webex App: please visit Webex Help Center for more information on how to turn on busy or DND mode using Webex App.
- Using CIsco IP Phone: (DND mode only)
- Without being on a call, press the "..." softkey until you see the DND softkey
- Press the DND softkey
- Verify "Do Not Distrub" banner appears on the top of the IP Phone screen.
