CloudConnexa (formerly OpenVPN Cloud)  provides remote users with secure VPN connections to the campus network via a SSL encrypted tunnel. OpenVPN Connect client software requires users to authenticate using Duo Two-Factor Authentication in order to establish a VPN connection to the University network. Establishing a VPN connection Behind a Restrictive Firewall

This page documents how to establish a OpenVPN connection if you are behind a restrictive firewall which blocks default protocol that is used by the software. .If you have any issues, please contact the Helpdesk at 216-368-HELP for further assistance.

Note:  By default, OpenVPN Connect requires UDP port 1194 to be open by the Firewall in order to establish a VPN connection.  VPN users can choose to establish the connection using TCP port 443.


How to configure the OpenVPN Connect software to use TCP port 443:

  1. Launch the OpenVPN Connect App
     
  2. Click or tap the Menu Icon on top leftUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  3. Select "Settings" Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Select "General"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  5. Under VPN Protocol, select "TCP"Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  6. Click the "Home" icon on top left to exit

How to configure the OpenVPN Connect software to use TCP port 443:

To reset the OpenVPN Connect software to use the default protocol, following the instructions above and select 'Adaptive' when choosing the VPN Protocol.
