eduroam

CWRU is a member eduroam, a secure, world-wide access service that allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain wireless Internet connectivity when visiting other participating institutions. The CWRU eduroam network authenticates users using their home institution's network credentials.

Members of the CWRU community can log in to eduroam networks at other institutions using their CWRU Network ID followed by @case.edu.

The eduroam network is also available on the CWRU campus for any visiting students, staff, faculty and researchers. Members of the CWRU community should use the CaseWireless network while on campus.

NOTE: While continuous use of eduroam isn't recommended for CWRU students, faculty, and staff while they are on the CWRU campus, it is highly recommended that you configure and test your device for eduroam network prior to traveling.

Instructions

Android

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select option for connecting to wi-fi. This varies between systems. It may be "Connections" or "Network & internet".
  3. Select "Wi-Fi".
  4. Select "eduroam" from list of networks.
  5. Enter these settings:
    • EAP Method: PEAP
    • Phase-2 Authentication (if required): MSCHAPV2
    • CA Certificate: Use system certificates or Do not validate
    • Domain (if required): case.edu
    • Identity: your network ID followed by "@case.edu" (ex: abc123@case.edu)
    • Anonymous identity: leave blank
    • Password: your CWRU network passphrase
  6. Select "Connect".
  7. If asked, accept the certificate.
  8. Your device will connect to eduroam anywhere it finds the network.

 

iOS

  1. Open "Settings".
  2. Select "Wi-Fi".
  3. Under "Networks" select "eduroam" from the list of networks.
  4. Enter these settings:
    • Username: your network ID followed by "@case.edu" (ex. abc123@case.edu)
    • Password: your CWRU network passphrase
  5. Select "Join".
  6. On the Certificate screen select "Trust".
  7. Your device will connect to eduroam anywhere it finds the network.

Windows

  1. Select the Start icon from the taskbar, then "Settings".
  2. From the Settings window, select "Network & Internet".
  3. Select "Show available networks".
  4. Select "eduroam" from the list of networks.
  5. In the "Sign in" window enter these settings
    1. Username: your network ID followed by "@case.edu" (ex. abc123@case.edu)
    2. Password: your CWRU network passphrase
  6. Press "Ok"
  7. When the security notification will appear, select "Connect"
  8. Your device will connect to eduroam anywhere it finds the network.

Mac

  1. Select network icon from the menu bar.
  2. Select "eduroam" from the list of networks.
  3. Enter these settings:
    • Username: your network ID followed by "@case.edu" (ex. abc123@case.edu)
    • Password: your CWRU network passphrase
  4. Select "Join"
  5. When prompted with certificated, select "Trust"
  6. Your device will connect to eduroam anywhere it finds the network.
