Below are instructions for users in the Weatherhead School of Management (WSOM) to install Solver and Opensolver software in Excel.
*Note: Users must be connected to Case wired network, CaseWireless network, or Case VPN.

Installation Instructions
- Create a folder called OpenSolver.
- Go to the web page http://opensolver.org/ and click on the tab at the top of the page labeled Download & Install.
- Scroll down to where it says To Download and Use OpenSolver: and then follow the instructions to download a .zipfile for WINDOWS and unzip all files into the OpenSolver folder you created in Step 1.
- Open Excel; click on the File tab in the upper left corner; then click on Options on the lower left of the screen:
- Click on Add-Ins on the left side of the resulting menu:
- In the drop-down box at the bottom of the screen, select Excel Add-Ins and click GO:
- In the resulting menu,
- Check the box labeled Solver Add-In.
- Click on Browse and browse to the OpenSolver folder you created in Step 1.
- Click on the file OpenSolver.xlam.
- Click OK on the Add-Ins menu above.
If everything has worked correctly, from now on in the Data tab of any EXCEL spreadsheet you should see the blue OpenSolver add-in on the top right of the menu, as shown below.
