System Integrations and Integrations with the Data Hub

A Data Hub is a system to ingest, transform, and store enterprise business data. It is a data exchange with data flow at its core allowing for a “hub and spoke” architecture to manage system integrations. It is an approach to more effectively determine where, when, and for whom data needs to be mediated, shared, and then linked and/or persisted.  It helps organizations consolidate and store enterprise-wide data. The System Integrations and Integrations with the Data Hub service provides a platform to create App-to-App integration and integrate various data sources into the University Data Hub.

We currently use Talend as the iPaaS (integration Platform as a Service) to integrate internal and/or external applications and data sources. In addition to Talend we use various Amazon Web Services (AWS) provided ETL tools (like AWS Glue, AWS DMS - Data Migration Service) to integrate and bring various types of data from different sources into the Data hub.

Benefits

  • Enable enterprise applications to interact and exchange data using reusable integrations;
  • Automate the data flow process into the data hub;
  • Enable analytics across multiple data sources and generate insights to be used to improve organizational decision-making and excellence.
  • A data hub approach avoids the complexity of maintaining and operating a large number of point-to-point application integrations and it provides a more central point for monitoring and measuring the interactions between applications.
