MAC Address

What is a MAC address?

Your Media Access Code (MAC) Address (also called Physical Address, Ethernet Address, Hardware Address or Adapter Address) is the unique 12-digit name of your network interface card.

To find the MAC address for a device not specifically covered here (Blu-ray players, DVD players, smart televisions, etc.), please refer to your owner's manual.

 

How to locate your MAC address

Finding your MAC address on macOS

·         Open System Preferences (either under the Apple menu or by clicking the icon in the dock).

·         Select the Network icon from the Internet & Network window.

·         Select "Ethernet" for wired network adapter or "Wi-Fi" for wireless network adapter in the left menu and pick the "Advanced" button on the bottom right.

·         Select the "Hardware" tab on the top.

·         Look for the adapter's MAC address in the format of XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

 

Finding your MAC address in Windows 10 / 11

·         On the Start menu, select Settings (Gear icon).

·         Select "Network & Internet"

·         Scroll down to "           Advanced network settings" section

·         Tap or click "Hardware and Connection properties"

·         Identify the correct adapter name:  "Ethernet" for wired network adapter and "Wi-Fi" for wireless network adapter

·         Look for the adapter's Physical address (MAC) in the format of XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX

 

Finding the MAC address of your Nintendo Wii

·         Select the Wii button on the home menu.

·         Select the Wii Settings option.

·         Click the Internet button.

·         Choose Console Information. You will see your MAC Address.

 

Finding the MAC address of your Playstation 3

·         Go to the Settings option on the Cross Media Bar.

·         Select System Settings.

·         Go to the System Information option. You will see your MAC address at the top of the screen.

 

Finding the MAC address of your Playstation 4

·         Turn on your Playstation 4 without any disk in the drive and wait for the menu to pop up.

·         Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left).

·         Select the System icon under the Settings menu.

·         Select System Information.

·         You will see your MAC address listed on this screen, containing letters and numbers in the format xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.

 

Finding the MAC address of your Xbox

·         If your Xbox has a disk in it, remove it.

·         Power on the Xbox.

·         Select Settings.

·         Select Network Settings. At the bottom right corner you will see the MAC address.

 

Finding the MAC address of your Xbox 360

·         Select the System tab in the Xbox dashboard.

·         Select Network Settings.

·         Select Edit Settings.

·         Go to Additional Settings and select Advanced Settings. At the bottom of the screen you will see the Wired MAC Address.

 

Finding the MAC address of your Xbox One

·         Select the System tab in the Xbox dashboard.

·         Select Network Settings.

·         Select Edit Settings.

·         Go to Additional Settings and select Advanced Settings. At the bottom of the screen you will see the Wired MAC Address
