Tableau - Publishing Dashboards on the Tableau Data Portal from Tableau Desktop

Connecting to the Tableau Server to Publish Dashboards from Tableau Desktop

Open the Tableau Desktop application on your computer.

On the top menu select Server>Sign In… (see image below).

Enter data.case.edu as the server location (see image below).

Select Connect and you will be redirected to the CWRU single sign on.

Enter your CWRU credentials and approve sign on through the DUO application.

You may be prompted to select the site on the server that you would like to connect to. Below is an example image of what you might encounter, however most of you will only be permissioned to publish to one site location on the server.

The CWRU Analytics site is the enterprise site, which will house production dashboards that have been deployed to a wide audience. If you have any dashboards that you would like to move to the CWRU Analytics site you can contact the UTech Analytics team at utech-analytics@case.edu or enter a HelpDesk ticket for the Analytics Team.

Once you have signed in and have your dashboard design completed you can select Server on the top menu bar, then Publish Workbook… (see image below).

Each site on the server that was created for offices and areas of the university has a Sandbox project folder that you can publish to (see image below). Additionally, each site will have an assigned Tableau Administrator in your area that can create additional project folders for your needs within that space. Note: dashboard permissions are based on folder structures, so when creating folders consider who you will want to have access to that folder.

If you wish to embed a Tableau dashboard on a public CWRU website, please contact the Office of Institutional Research and Planning at cwrufacts@case.edu for a consultation or more information.
