The office of Data Management, Analytics and Visualization provides enterprise-scale digital transformation services and business innovation through the power of advanced analytics and Big Data solutions. Through self-service analytic tools, such as Tableau, we offer data discovery and visualization to business and academic units across the university. 

The office is also involved in the university-wide data governance initiative. Data governance is a collection of internal processes, roles, policies, and standards that ensure effective use of business information that allow the organization to improve business operations and performance. The office specifically focuses on the technical aspects of data modeling/mapping, data management, metadata documentation, data quality, and data access.

Please submit a Data Analytics Help Ticket for any of the following data analytics needs:

  • Reporting an issue with an existing dashboard
  • Requesting an enhancement (i.e. addition column) on an existing dashboard

What is Tableau?
The article describes how faculty and instructors can obtain a group of Tableau analytics software licenses to use in courses. Licenses are directly available from Tableau through the Tableau for Teaching program.
Tableau for Students makes the software available to students free of charge. “Students (K12 and postsecondary) at accredited academic institutions worldwide are eligible for a free one-year license to activate Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep.“ Students must complete the request for (https://www.tableau.com/academic/students-> Get Tableau for Free) to receive an activation code.
Our mission is to combine university data from separate sources across the institution to one location, which will provide a single view of university information and provide a standardized way of communication.
