Tableau - Accessing the University Tableau Data Portals

Data portals are available on the Data Management, Analytics and Visualization team website under Access Data. Or you may go directly to data.case.edu, healthdata.case.edu or dentaldata.case.edu. If you are trying to access healthdata.case.edu or dentaldata.case.edu from off campus this will require VPN as well.

You will be directed to the CWRU single sign-on. Please enter your CWRU credentials and complete the multi-factor identification (DUO push).

Once you log into the enterprise Tableau server you may have access to multiple server sites. The CWRU Analytics site is our enterprise site, with deployed dashboards, and other sites are work areas for individual units on campus for collaboration and dashboard development. If you have access to multiple server sites you can toggle between them using the dropdown menu on the left-hand side of the screen (see below).

If you do not immediately see your dashboards, select Explore on the left menu bar (see below).

You can select your favorite folders, dashboards and/or individual dashboard pages by selecting the star icon (see below).

You can then find all your favorites in your Favorite section on the left-hand menu bar.

You may make your Explore page or Favorites page your default start page to make dashboards of interest more easily found. To do this, select the icon with your initials in the upper right-hand corner of the browser and select “Make This My Start Page” (see below).

Creating Web Shortcuts

Since Tableau is a web-based platform you can use the web URL to reference a workbook or folder, including sending that link to another individual. Please remember that those individuals you share the link with will also need permission to see the content. Sharing the URL does not give permission.

In addition to curating content in your Favorites section, you can also bookmark URLs in your web browser for ease of access. Lastly, you can also create a desktop shortcut to your favorite dashboard(s) by selecting your web browser menu > More tools > Create Shortcut (in Chrome). An icon will appear on your desktop that will open your browser at the specified URL location.

Tableau Mobile Apps

Tableau mobile applications are available for Apple and Android devices through the App Store or Google Play. For security purposes and formatting we encourage you to use the Tableau mobile application to access dashboards on the go rather than through a web browser on your device. Please note that even though we make our best effort to design for an optimal experience we cannot design for every device size and shape. For the best experience, we encourage you to view dashboards on a computer or laptop. Additionally, not all dashboards have a mobile or tablet view due to security purposes. Dashboards in dentaldata.case.edu and healthdata.case.edu do not have mobile or tablet views created due to security protocols.
