Canon Printer - Install v2.3.0 - MAC OS

This guide offers a detailed step-by-step process for installing the CWRU Canon printer on a Mac, ensuring a seamless setup experience. It addresses potential security warnings from macOS and provides troubleshooting tips, making it user-friendly for those unfamiliar with printer installations. By following these instructions, users can efficiently configure their printers and test functionality, ensuring they can print without issues. Whether you are a student or staff member, this guide simplifies the installation process, saving you time and frustration.

 

  1. Open Terminal (Go > Applications > Utilities > Terminal) or use Spotlight Search to find Terminal. 
  2. In the Terminal window, type Xcode-select --install 
  3. Quit Terminal 
    1. Alert! You must QUIT Terminal completely before continuing (Don't just close the window. Close it completely by clicking Terminal > Quit Terminal) 
  4. Download the CWRU Canon Printer Install 2.3.0.pkg 
  5. Click "Downloads" to locate the 'CWRU Canon Printer Install 2.3.0.pkg' and single click. 
  6. A warning will appear that reads: "Apple could not verify “CWRU Canon Printer Install 2.3.0.pkg” is free of malware that may harm your Mac or compromise your privacy." 
  7. Click "Done" 
  8. Open System Settings (Apple Menu > System Settings...) 
  9. Scroll down and Click "Privacy & Security" 
  10. Locate the "CWRU Canon Printer Install 2.3.0.pkg" warning and Click the 'Open Anyway' button 
  11. Click "Open Anyway" in the confirmation window 
  12. Type in your Mac administrator username and password and click OK. The installer with launch. 
  13. Click Continue 
  14. Click Install 
  15. Click 'Allow' to "installer Would like to Modify Apps on your Mac." 
  16. Click "Allow" to control 'Terminal. 
  17. A Terminal Window launches. Follow the step by step instructions to install the desired printer(s) you have access to: 
  18. Press Enter to continue 
  19. Select your school by the number associated with it, then press Enter 
  20. Next, Select the print queue you wish to install on your Mac. 
    1. Tip! All Print Queues on the print server are displayed, you may or may not have access to all or any of them. Check with your Systems Administrator. 
  21. Next, select the print driver to use based on the copier model. The copier model can be found printed on the physical copier itself. 
  22. Press Enter 
  23. If you wish to add more print queues to your Mac, press R, otherwise press Enter to exit. 
  24. Close Terminal. Next we will send a test print page to ensure functionality 
  25. Within System Settings, Click "Printers & Scanners" 
  26. Click "Printers & Scanners" 
  27. Click on a printer you just installed, for example: 'MANDEL-B-375-COPIER on MSASSPRINT', then click "Printer Queue..." 
  28. Highlight the printer, then from the menu, select Printer > Print Test Page 
  29. Click "Print Test Page" 
  30. For the Username, clear out what's there and type "ADS\CaseID" - where "CaseID” is your University username, e.g. abc123. Followed by your University password, then Click OK 
  31. A test print should be submitted to the print queue.
