Single Sign On (SSO) Services

Description

Case's Single Sign-On services allow other websites to request authentication to their sites through https://login.case.edu which allows our campus community a  simpler and more secure way to access them. Basic directory information can also be sent to the external website allowing them to target their resources appropriately.

On-campus websites (https://example.case.edu) and third party vendors (https://case.example.com) can leverage the Single Sign-On services who support our authentication standards – SAML and CAS. Multi-factor authentication is available through Duo to those that request it.

Existing services integrated with our Single Sign-On servers may periodically need to update or replace their metadata. This can be done by submitting a ticket with the new metadata attached.

UTech encourages all approved campus services to use https://login.case.edu to prompt our community for their Case Western passphrase credentials.

Availability

Case's Single Sign-On servers are available for authentication at all times besides scheduled maintenance.

Requests to leverage the service as authentication to a website or on behalf of a vendor's website, are available to all campus members.

Cost

There is no cost associated with this service. Vendors may charge at their regular fees for performing this integration at their discretion.

How to get it

To request a new SSO integration, please use the link on the right to answer a few questions about the request and to provide some information. For additional questions, you can contact sso-admin@case.edu to start a conversation.

NOTE: SSO Integration Requests are typically associated with larger project efforts to deploy new or upgrade existing applications or services. Please note requests are only to configure SSO. The Identity Management Engineering group is not responsible for management, or coordination with the vendor for any actual deployment of the service beyond configuring SSO. Their scope of responsibility is limited to ensuring SSO is properly configured. If assistance is required for actually deploying a new or upgrading an existing service in addition to setting up SSO, please reach out to help@case.edu for assistance. They will direct your inquiry to our Project Management Office.
